Vltchek's book celebrates one of the most important events in modern political history a hundred years after it happened. The October Revolution in Russia challenged old authority structures, tyrannical beliefs and assumptions and started the anti-imperialist struggle on a global scale that continues to this day. Some countries have fallen despite trying to preserve their socialist ideals, Vltchek writes, while others have risen.
The West has been hostile to October and the ripples of liberation it created, since day one. The reactionary NATO alliance is still committed against such effects a hundred years later. Useful when confronted with the spike in hateful rhetoric and accusations coming out of Western capitals in recent years against Russia, we must remember Russia is "more Asian than European" as the author writes, and for that it is going to be "despised" by Western chauvinists. We must be aware of that endless fountain of racism and hypocrisy in the West whenever we hear the word "Russian" paired with something negative or supposedly scary in the media.
There is much to be hopeful about, as the book explains. The October Revolution's principles and ideals still "alive and well" in many countries for the simple reason they are "correct" and "reflect basic human dreams and aspirations". The reason the October Revolution remains uncontested as such an important event in modern history is because it was not fake like so many so-called uprisings and revolutions by plutocrats, power-mongers or the CIA. As Vltchek writes, "True Revolution is like an icebreaker. The revolutionaries are its crew". Such a uniquely Russian, uniquely Bolshevik view of revolution is a key part of what needs to be revived to overturn the stagnant global political order again."

Book Description
Powerful, urgent, this book is straightforwardly challenging Western anti-Communist and anti-internationalist dogmas. “The Great October Socialist Revolution began by a proud salvo from Aurora. It broke the prison wall as well as chains, and a secret road suddenly opened. The journey began. Several countries rose, following the revolutionary ideals. Since then, some have fallen. Others rose again.”
